Description

Curious how the ASI462MC color planetary camera would perform on a bright deepsky object I tried OSC imaging beginning with live stacking in SharpCap (EAA). Revision B is the unprocessed live stack file. Trespassing thin clouds may have caused bright halos around the brighter stars. The final image shows dark halos around stars which are the result of Starnet++ processing in Photoshop by merging the raw image with a thoroughly processed starless version, a compromise to favor the amount of nebulosity. I am all ears for hints.

Since this was my very first attempt with OSC imaging, there is certainly much room for improvement, more affection and better techniques. Clouds are the limit. Revision C is an all-sky view with an ASI290MM and bundled fish-eye lens from the balcony before turning to M42.

The live stack is made of 213 frames in raw16 with 15 second exposure at gain 170 through a quad band filter. Samyang 135mm at f4.

By the way,

The other day while taking my two dogs out for a seaside walk I had a amusing encounter with an elderly man sitting on a folding chair he placed at the roadside along the coast. He spoke broken English, but no problem, I too never won a prize for linguistics.

Man: Hello, you American?

Me: No, German.

Man: Oh, Gerumano, I know, South America!

Me: Si, si, amigo, américa del sur (^^^^^^^no reaction on Spanish, hmmm)

Man: Nice dogs, how old?

Me: Both are almost twelve years old. We are three old grandpa's.

Man: hahahahahahah...... (almost falling from his folding chair)

Me: What's funny :-) ?

Man: Three "ojii" (Okinawan dialect for grandpa), same hair style, hahahahahaha....

Me: Frankly, I am afraid of going to a barber, Corona, you know.

Man: Yes, I know ... (man lifted his headgear .... bare skin all over ....)

Man: Corona, no problem, hihihi....

Obviously mentally a little bit off, I enjoyed the brief conversion. His English was better than that of certain people who are supposed to have a clear mind and public responsibility.

Don't anybody after reading this dare address me as "Ojii" from now on :-)
